Architecture

For this weeks blog the theme was to take pictures of architecture. The first picture is of me and a couple of my friends in front of a school building. the plain architectural wall in the background adds a lot more focus toward me and the girls in the picture. The second and third pictures were taken in New York when I visited there a couple years back. The second picture is of me reaching out and touching the Empire State building. I blurred out the edges slightly so that the main focus would be on the building itself and to show the architecture surrounding. The final picture is of Times Square at night, obviously, and has focus everywhere because ppt how busy of a picture it is. The glowing lights coming from all directions as well as the dark sky mainly in the upper left corner putting a nice shadow on the byilding next to it with the lights also reflecting onto it.

Macrophotography

This weeks theme was Macrophotography. For my first picture I took it of my earbuds messily displayed on a table. I took the picture using the camera flash so that the shadows would add more depth to the picture and make the green and yellow coloring more vibrant. The second picture is of my lokai bracelet that I also took using the camera flash. I like this one a lot because of how the water beads come off to be translucent and the main point of the image. The final picture I took a selfie of just my eye. I used the flash again to blur out the background so that the color of my eye would be the center of the picture. It focused more on the detail of y eyelashes but also brought out the quality and color in my eye.

Night

The theme of this weeks blog is night so for this first picture was taken during summer 2015 at a summer festival in Nob Hill. My friend used her professional camera in order to take the picture of me and a group of other friends. It focuses mainly on us with all of the background darkened, making the clothing and hair look super vibrant. The second picture was taken this winter at the river of lights. It greatly highlights the vibrant flower christmas lights in the background but dims out my friend that I initially took the picture of. Behind her I love how you can see very small twinkling lights with the rest of the scenery. The final picture is a selfie of me and my friend at about 9pm when we were driving to Scottsdale Arizona to go and visit a friend. I used the front facing flash in order to take the picture so that's why the quality isn't all that great because it wasn't able to focus.

Sports

The theme of this weeks blog was to take pictures of people doing sports. The first picture is of me snowboarding in Santa Fe. I had my dad take it at a side angle. The second picture I took of my brother at his club baseball game when he was in the middle of a hit. In order to get this I originally took a video and then stopped it right on the action shot frame. The final picture is of me snowboarding again, only this time I took it from an upward angle with the go pro. I really like this picture because you can see so many aspects of Taos ski mountain from the chairlift.

Birds

The theme of this weeks blog is to take pictures of birds. The first two pictures are of my friends birds. I don't know what type they are but in order to take the picture I used my flash to get a better quality of the colors. The first one is greatly highlighted underneath its main coat with blue peek a boo feather. Then it has sports of purple where its cheeks look to be. As for the second picture I screwed up on the angle that I took the picture so the cash ended up darkening the entire picture rather than highlighting it. You are still capable of seeing the pattern of the top feathers and the hint of blue below, but its harder to see the color contrast.
This final picture I took while I was in San Francisco tho summer of a seagull on a dock inside of Fisherman's Warf. I had to zoom in on my camera a lot in order to actually capture the color and some of the detail shown on the bird.

Light

The theme of this weeks blog is the light. The first picture is of the rapper, G-Eazy. This picture represents light because of the large sign behind him as well as the blaring white light above him. The blue lettering on, "These Things Happen" contrasts with the pitch black background. The second picture in the left hand side of the page is of Skizzy Mars. This is a representation of light because of the blue blaring from the left hand side. It lights up the definition on his face even though he was moving around very fast and shows the motion of my hand. The final picture Is of me and a friend at the River of Lights. There is a lot of emphasis on the behind unicorn because that was what the camera was being focused on rather than the people on the picture.

Lonely Tree

The theme of this weeks blog was to take pictures of a lonely tree. I was incapable of remembering to take pictures outside of school so I had to find some on campus. The first picture is right outside of the math building. I took a wide scope picture to see more of the surrounding but the main tree is still completely bare with no signs of any leaves blooming. The second tree and third tree are green with pine needles that look the same year round. I like how in the third picture there is a faint stream of lights starting at the right corner of the picture moving in a diagonal down the rest of it.

People Hard at Work

The theme of this week was to take pictures of people that were hard at work. All of my pictures look quite similar because I went around the photography classroom and took pictures of my classmates. All who seem to be working on their blogs. I took each of the pictures from an upward angle so that you could look down as each student typing of their keyboard. I unintentionally used the flash on all of the pictures yet it seemed to not make any difference in lighting because the picture is so broad rather than having a clear emphasis on something inside of the picture.

Mechanical Terrestrial Transportation

The theme of this weeks blog was to take pictures if mechanical terrestrial transportation. The first two pictures are taken of my friends cars inside of his garage. I took the first picture from an upward angle so that you could see all of the dimensions of the forerunner. This picture turned out very well because it was taken early in the morning as the sun was coming up/ The second picture is of his audi, just sitting inside of the garage so not as glorious of a picture. The final one is of a cable car that I took when I was in San Francisco. I love this picture because there is emphasis on every aspect of the picture and a lot of detail when looking closer at the colors on the car.

Personification of Inanimate Objects

This weeks theme was to do personification of inanimate objects.- For all three of my pictures I used a Starbucks cup to make the things look as if they were drinking it. My first picture is of a bathroom sign which I made look like it was drinking. The second picture is of another picture of a man inside of the photography classroom. Lastly, the third picture is of some random head with medusa looking springs sticking outside of its head that I found around the photography classroom. This head was out of my reach so the Starbucks cup is actually closer to me rather than touching the head itself.

Performing Arts

Marc E. Bassy
2-8-16

ASAP Ferg

Young Gerald
2-8-16
For this weeks theme we had to post pictures of people performing arts. All of these pictures were taken at a concert I went to last week for G-Eazy's tour of his new album. The first picture is of Marc E. Bassy who was one of the first opening acts. The quality of this isn't fantastic because it is a screen shot off of a video with him in it, and he was constantly moving. The second picture is of ASAP Ferg in the middle of a song making a speech. I love this picture because I focused very closely to get the greatest quality and the shadow in the background. The last picture is of the main act, G-Eazy. This picture has a ton of enphassis right on the rappers face and bright lights contrasting the white shirt and black jacket. The background behind hi, is dimmed out but still noticeable if you look closely.

Hats or Headgear

Patagonia

Light Blur
2-5-16
The theme of this week was hats or headgear. For my first picture, I did a flash effect on a classmates patagonia hat. I really like how this picture turned out because with the added light, the red, blue and purple coloring pops out much more. For the second picture, it is mainly focused on the helmets and beanies being worn. This was taken on the ski lift at Santa Fe ski area. Even though this picture wasn't initially intended for this class, the lighting and focus on all of the helmets turned out very well. Lastly, this picture was taken at the River of Lights this past Christmas. It was taken with a blur effect but turned out very well with the bright lights in the background and then the main black hat in the front. I really like the contrast that the white "neff" label has in the picture against the black hat.

Food

Agua

Stay Nutritious
1-28-16

Don't Cry
1-28-16
The theme of this week was food. For my three foods I picked the first household objects that I could find and did a flash picture of them. The first picture is of an Aquafina water bottle. In the surrounding I was in there was actually light all around, but because I used the flash on my camera and the angle that I did, all of the surrounding light was blacked to. I really like how this turned out because you can see through the bottle and it leaves a very nice glare. As for the second food item, I took a balance bar out of my pantry under the same lighting in the same place as the first picture. I tried to incorporate my nails to compliment the blue aspects of the wrapper. As for the last picture I grabbed a random onion on my kitchen counter and took it with the flash again. This is my favorite picture this week because how often do you see quality pictures of onions? The purple coloring and pink nail polish greatly compliment each other with the all black background.

Technology Outside the Classroom

The theme of this week was to take pictures of technology outside of the classroom. The first picture is a close up on the apple symbol on a n apple desktop computer. This picture turned out very well for the lighting circumstances I had and I love the effect of how the silver behind the symbol flourishes a chrome color when it has that much light flashing onto it. The second picture is of a keyboard to an apple desktop computer. I took this at a side view rather than straight on because I liked how the picture gets progressively darker the further back it goes. The lighting from the flash was very bright on the beginning letters and then the shadows toward the back create a nice blur. Lastly is a picture of the rose gold iPhone 6s. The flash made the phone turn out more gold rather than showing the pink aspects but once again I like how it starts off very bright in one corner and then gets progressively darker toward the back.

Shoes

Sunburned Ugg
1-14-17
Black Coast
1-14-16
These aren't UGGly
1-14-16

This weeks theme was shoes being worn, or pictures of shoes. The first picture is of UGG brand boots, zoomed and focused very closely on the brand tag. I took the picture from a back angle to show the neutral color of the boots. I used the flash to get a really bright affect and close focus, making all of the surrounding very dark. The second picture is of a classmates black Nike Janoskis. I took these inside the classroom and lifted the shoe displayed in front of an apple computer and keyboard. I think both of these objects really compliment each other because of the flash reflection from the computer and the bright white on the nike symbol. For the final picture I did a blur effect on the grey UGG boot. I wanted for it to look like it was in motion while pressed up against the back locker.

Jewelry Being Worn

Wear it Loud
1-7-16
Ear Candy
1-7-16
Wrist Wrist Wrist
1-7-16

This weeks theme is of jewelry being worn on people. The first picture is of my own wrist wearing a Rastaclat bracelet. When taking this picture I tried to incorporate other things such as my jacket to show something I wear on a daily basis. I used the flash on my camera to give the bracelet an even brighter look with the silver reflecting the light as well. The second picture is a self shot of my ear. This was much harder to take because of how I had to angle my face in order to crop everything else out making the diamonds the main focus in the picture. Again I used the flash on this picture so that the jewelry would sparkle and come off very bright from the light. I really like how my hair in the background has certain aspects of value to bring more attention to the picture. Lastly I took this picture of a classmates Nixon wristwatch. I took is on top of a table for a very plain background. In normal lighting the gold coloring looks very elegant and has a lot of emphasis on the lettering on the face of the watch.
